Welcome to Year 5
Summer Term 2019
‘Invaders’ will focus on Anglo-Saxon and Viking invasions of Britain. Our class reading books this term will be extracts from Beowulf by Michael Morpurgo and Love that Dog by Sharon Creecher.
A science topic on light will consider light sources, directional arrows, investigating shadows and observing angles of incidence – so lots of practical work. Our second topic ‘Classification’ will look at the ways that all living things can be classified, as well as more detailed studies of specific groups, such as micro-organisms. The poetry book ‘Lost Words’ will be an inspiring link to nature.
