The Glenfall Curriculum

Enjoy – Enquire – Excel

At Glenfall Community Primary School we nurture happy and confident children by providing an enjoyable and stimulating environment, where enquiring minds and independence can develop and flourish preparing them for the journey ahead….

At Glenfall our curriculum consists of: the National Curriculum core and foundation subjects, which are taught through a relevant, contextual and inspiring curriculum underpinned by our values Enjoy , Enquire, Excel . Our curriculum is carefully designed to ensure all our children achieve their full potential and are well prepared for the next stages of their education and their adult life. For more information about the National Curriculum please click the link. We also follow the Gloucestershire agreed syllabus for Religious Education. In PSHE we use a school wide scheme of work to address the Social, Emotional Aspects of Learning (SEAL) to ensure all our children have the skills they need to be a successful member of both our school community and our modern British society.

Underpinning everything, we do, is our commitment to supporting our pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development as well as our own school values of Enjoy, Enquire, Excel. We prioritise success in reading, writing, spelling, grammar, science and mathematical understanding, together with confidence in the use of I.T. However, we pride ourselves on our ability to balance this with a broad and enriched curriculum that allows our children ample opportunities to explore art, D.T., music, history, geography, R.E. and French. We are fortunate to be able to work with The Music Junction to provide our pupils with a wide range of musical experiences including singing and extensive access to a variety of instruments through peripatetic music teachers.

The Governors are linked to subject areas together with areas of school improvement and work closely with staff in the implementation and monitoring of the curriculum.
