Glenfall Community Primary prides itself on being an inclusive, understanding and caring school with a reputation for working closely with parents and carers. We work hard to ensure that all children receive the academic and emotional support required in order that they may become integrated members of our school community.
Our school is fully accessible and we make reasonable adjustments to meet the needs of our pupils within a mainstream setting. All children and young people with SEND are valued, respected and equal members of the school. At Glenfall, we value the contribution that every child and young person can make and welcome the diversity of culture, religion and intellectual style.
Glenfall Community Primary School received the IMPACT award on Thursday 19 July 2018 to mark our outstanding support to pupils at the school with autism. In addition, Glenfall is also part of a national programme to help make mental health support for children and young people more available when they need it. We are one of 73 schools from Cheltenham, Gloucester and the Forest of Dean to work with the NHS in Gloucestershire to introduce Mental Health Support Teams into schools.
The school also has access to support through the Early Help Partnership in Gloucestershire. Early help is about providing support to potentially vulnerable children, young people and their families as soon as difficulties begin to emerge or when there is a strong likelihood that support will be needed in the future. The school can make a referral to the Early Help Partnership and also has the support of an allocated Early Help Coordinator.
The SEN Code of Practice stipulates that Local Authorities must provide a “Local Offer”. The purpose of the Local Offer is to provide information for parents, in a single place, which helps them to understand what services they can expect from a range of local agencies – including their statutory entitlements.
