Literacy
This half term in Literacy, pupils will begin by planting sunflower seeds, using this hands-on experience to support their instructional writing. They will then explore the story Handa’s Surprise, focusing on developing their use of conjunctions and punctuation to improve sentence structure and fluency. Following this, pupils will write both formal and informal letters inspired by Goldilocks and the Three Bears. The half term will conclude with a phonics focus in preparation for the screening check.
Spelling tests will take place once a week on a Friday.

Maths
This half term in Maths, pupils will develop their understanding of fractions by recognising and finding halves and quarters of shapes, objects and quantities. Pupils will also learn to find the difference between numbers and apply their knowledge in a range of contexts. Towards the end of the half term, they will explore measurement, comparing and ordering lengths and heights, and using both non-standard and standard units.

Science
