PE and Sports Premium

In April 2013, the Government announced new funding of £150 million for physical education (PE) and sport. This funding should be used to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision.

Funding is allocated to all maintained and state-funded schools with primary phase pupils, including: primary, middle, special and non-maintained special schools, academies and pupil referral units from 1 September 2013. Glenfall Primary School annually receives approximately £17,000.

Schools are free to determine how best to use this funding to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision, including increasing participation in PE and sport so that all pupils develop healthy lifestyles and reach the performance levels they are capable of.

As our school commitment to this we have affiliated to the Cheltenham and Tewkesbury School Sports Partnership. This collaborative working will provide enhanced opportunities for students and staff alike to develop PE and School Sports. The following areas will be covered.

  • Pupil participation opportunities –festivals and events
  • Pupils competition opportunities  – across all sports
  • Staff continual professional development
  • Curriculum support – activities as required

We currently use two providers to deliver quality sports coaching to the children and to develop teacher skills through CPD opportunities.
