The children will make predictions using blurbs and illustrations, describe characters and settings, and develop their understanding of story structure through drama, discussion and retelling. The children will also explore poetry, focusing on rhyme and how it is used to create enjoyment and meaning.

Spelling tests will take place once a week on a Friday.

Maths

In Maths this half term, the children will be developing their understanding of number and place value as well as addition and subtraction. They will explore numbers up to 100 by counting forwards and backwards, using number lines and comparing and ordering numbers. Children will practise finding one more and one less, helping to build confidence with number patterns. They will also develop fluency by partitioning numbers from 7 to 10 and learning the related addition and subtraction facts,

Science

In Science this half term, the children will be learning about animals and how they are grouped. They will explore the differences between carnivores, herbivores, and omnivores, and learn to identify and name animal groups such as fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals.
